What’s New In December
Our students are heading into the last few days of the second nine weeks. It is important to help your child/children to maintain his/her focus on learning throughout these remaining days. Please ensure that your child completes homework and/or projects in a timely manner. During the Winter break, allow your child/children to access Lexia (K – 2nd) or i-Ready (3rd – 5th) computer programs to maintain their level of learning until they return to school on Thursday, January 4th, 2018. All students are familiar with logging into the computer based programs through Clever on the Jefferson Parish website.
For those families without computers in their homes, please visit the Public Library on West Napoleon Avenue. It is free to use computers, read books, or participate in events at the library. Also encourage your child/children to read for 20 – 30 minutes daily as the task of reading independently will help improve all areas of learning. We need parental support to guarantee our students are successful with their learning.
Learning is important and a privilege. Once our students learn something, it cannot be taken away from them. Help us empower all our students to know they can do anything they set their minds to doing. Assist us here at Birney to empower our students to become the scholars we know they can be by working harder at becoming a first rate learner!
Best wishes to all for a happy and safe New Year!! Enjoy your holidays!!
