Ninon Ledesma

It is with great pleasure that I welcome everyone to the 2024-25 school year. We are excited about all of the opportunities this year will hold. Our faculty and staff are looking forward to the community we will grow as we work together to make our Birney vision a reality.

Making connections is an integral part of learning. Therefore, our school theme this year is, drumroll please… Connections!!!  The many different components that create our unique school community are held together by intentional connections. At Birney, we approach learning in terms of puzzle pieces. Every piece is necessary to create a complete picture. Reading and Writing, Math, Science, History, and Physical Education all form a complete understanding; every subject is necessary and depends upon the others. 

One of our school objectives is linking what we have learned to what we will learn. For students, this looks like an extra focus on setting attainable academic goals and tracking their own progress. When students have ownership of their learning, they are able to achieve every goal they set their mind to. Our wonderful teachers will be coming alongside them to teach these valuable skills. Parents can take an active role in completing the puzzle by staying informed about their children’s goals and progress, as well. 

Our hope is to collaborate with each of you in the growth of your child at Alice Birney. Your child’s success is our top priority and we don’t take it lightly. We are honored to serve your families and welcome your engagement in your child’s educational journey. We are more than a school, we are a community!
